Privacy policy
Effective
This policy covers the Schengen app for iOS and Android, and this website. “We” means the publisher named below.
In short: everything you enter stays on your phone. There is no account and no server. The app sends crash reports, which you can turn off, and the problem reports you choose to send. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and no data is sold.
Who is responsible
The controller of your data is:
- Name: Arnaud Bertrand
- Status: Individual, publishing as a non-professional
- Email: support@yakuwave.app
What stays on your phone
Everything you enter stays on your device: your trips, the trip you check in Plan, and your settings. There is no account and no server.
These stay on your phone too:
- reminders, which are local notifications;
- the app lock (Face ID, Touch ID or passcode), which only tells the app whether unlocking worked;
- exports, which go only where you send them;
- imports, which are read on your phone.
Crash reports
When the app hits an error, crashes or freezes, it sends a crash report so we can fix the problem.
A crash report contains:
- what failed;
- the device: its model, its system, language and time zone, and the app’s version.
It contains nothing about your trips: no countries, no dates, no screenshots, and nothing you tapped. Your IP address is not stored.
Crash reports are on by default. To turn them off, go to Settings › Privacy › Share crash reports. Error reports stop at once, and crash and freeze reports from the next time the app opens. Development builds of the app send nothing.
Purpose and legal basis: fixing bugs, which is our legitimate interest (GDPR, article 6(1)(f)). Turning crash reports off is how you object.
Report a problem
Settings › Help › Report a problem sends:
- your message;
- the device details listed above;
- your email address, if you give one.
It is sent even when crash reports are off, because you chose to send it.
Purpose and legal basis: answering your report, at your request. Your email address is used only to reply to you.
Emails to support
When you write to support@yakuwave.app, Cloudflare Email Routing forwards your email to our inbox. Your email and your address are used only to reply to you.
Purpose and legal basis: answering you, at your request.
Who receives the data
Crash reports and problem reports go to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., United States), which processes them on our behalf under its data processing agreement.
Sentry stores them in the European Union, in Germany. Sentry, its affiliates and its subprocessors may still access them from outside the EU, including from the United States and Canada. Transfers to the United States rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Sentry is certified, with the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses as a fallback. Canada is covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission.
How long data is kept
Sentry deletes each crash report and each problem report after 30 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- access your data;
- have it corrected;
- have it erased;
- restrict how it is processed;
- object to its processing;
- receive it in a portable format.
To use any of these rights, email support@yakuwave.app.
You can also complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority: cnil.fr/fr/plaintes.
